What are Same Day Crowns?
A dental crown is a custom cap that restores a damaged, cracked, heavily filled or root-canal-treated tooth, protecting it and returning its natural strength, shape and appearance. With same-day crown technology, we can design, create and fit your crown in a single visit, with no messy moulds and no temporary crown.
At Moonee Ponds Smiles we use advanced CEREC digital scanning and in-house milling, so for many teeth (usually back teeth) you can walk out with a permanent, natural-looking crown on the same day.
For some cases we also provide traditional crowns crafted at a trusted Australian dental laboratory over two visits, using high-quality porcelain and other durable materials. Your dentist will recommend the option best suited to your tooth.
Why Choose Us?
Same-day crowns save you time and hassle, replacing multiple appointments and temporary crowns with one comfortable visit.
Our dentists use precise 3D digital scanning and computer-guided design to craft crowns that fit beautifully and match your natural teeth. Each ceramic crown is strong, durable and made to strict Australian standards, and we accept all major health funds with flexible payment options.
Who is a good candidate?
A cracked, chipped or broken tooth
A tooth weakened by a large filling
A tooth that has had root canal treatment
Worn-down or misshapen teeth
An old crown that needs replacing
Anyone wanting a strong, natural restoration in a single visit
After your visit
It is normal for the tooth to feel slightly sensitive to hot or cold for a few days as it settles.
Your new crown may feel different at first as you get used to the shape and fit.
The gum around the crown may feel a little tender and typically settles within a few days.
Most patients return to eating and daily activities soon after their appointment.
Any sensitivity usually fades as the tooth adjusts. Let us know if it persists.
Long-term care
Brush and floss as normal
Care for your crown just like a natural tooth with daily brushing and flossing.
Avoid very hard foods at first
Give your crown time to settle by avoiding very hard or sticky foods in the first day or two.
Protect against grinding
If you grind your teeth, a nightguard helps protect your crown and natural teeth.
Keep up regular reviews
Routine check-ups let us make sure your crown and surrounding teeth stay healthy.
Call us if something changes
If your bite feels off or the crown feels loose, contact the clinic so we can help.
With good day-to-day care and regular check-ups, a quality dental crown can protect your tooth for 15 years or more.
